The advent calendar season no longer starts in November — in 2026 it barely waited for September. Retail reporting by Inc. (October 2026) shows brand launches beginning in July and concentrating in August and September. ASOS opened member early access on 4 September and its global sale on 7 September (ASOS plc); Space NK gave its waitlist first access on 8 September, two days before the general sale. If your 2027 calendar is meant to sell in that same window, your factory dates are already determined. You just have to count backwards instead of forwards.
The retail end of the chain is the fixed point, and it keeps moving earlier. Waitlists and member early access mean a brand needs finished stock, photography and listings ready weeks before the public launch. Demand data points the same way: price-comparison platform Prisjakt recorded September purchase intent for calendars up 46% year on year in 2026, and up 253% over three years. Wholesale moved earlier too — ToyBook, citing the Faire platform, reports 2026 calendar orders up 63% year on year, with retailers committing their spend during the summer.
The other fixed point is that there is no second production run. Inc. notes that Fly By Jing's food calendar sold out on 5 November last year and stayed sold out. For a seasonal product, the quantity you approve in spring is the quantity you sell in December.
Our own published schedule is the other half of the math. We reply to an enquiry with a sampling plan and pricing within one business day. A hand-made sample takes 7–10 days. After you approve the sample, mass production takes 25–35 days, then quality control and packing. Standard boxes from our existing range are faster — production within 15 workdays — because the tooling already exists. Two sampling revision rounds are normal for a new structure, and each round costs days, not hours.
Freight is the longest single block and the one buyers most often under-plan. As a working assumption — not a promise — allow roughly six weeks for ocean freight to Europe, customs and inbound handling to your warehouse. Measure your own forwarder's last season and adjust; the point is that this block, not production, is where late projects usually die.
For an early-September 2027 retail launch, the chain resolves into this calendar:
Budgeting follows the same calendar: structure choice in January decides the price tier long before any invoice, which is why our cost breakdown is worth reading before the first quote request, not after.
Corporate calendars delivered to client offices in November can start production in September and still land on time, which is why the track in our corporate gifting guide looks more relaxed. Two cautions. First, retail and corporate orders compete for the same peak-season factory capacity, and the retail brands booked theirs in spring. Second, there is no retail fallback: Space NK's 2026 calendar page states plainly that corporate purchases are not permitted, so a company cannot rescue a late project by buying retail calendars in bulk. One more planning number from Prisjakt's data: about 40% of calendars were discounted during Black Friday week 2026, at an average of 23% — if your margin model assumes full price through December, it is already wrong.
Order on a backward count. For an early-September retail launch: quotes in January–February, artwork locked in March, final sample approved by end of April, production in May, shipping end of June. Corporate calendars for November delivery can start production as late as September, subject to remaining capacity.
Mass production takes 25–35 days at our factory, and sampling before that takes 7–10 days per round. Freight is separate: as a planning assumption, allow roughly six weeks door-to-warehouse for ocean shipping to Europe, and confirm the figure against your own forwarder's performance last season.
Sampling plus production still takes about six to eight weeks, and peak-season capacity is partly booked by then. A summer start misses a September retail launch, but it can still make a November corporate delivery — with fewer revision rounds, less structure choice, and no slack if a sample comes back wrong.
